AHPRA reinforces conflicts of interest obligations. Interim guidance requires healthcare practitioners to disclose financial and commercial conflicts of interest to patients.

The guidance specifically addresses subscription-based, vertically integrated and single-product healthcare models.

Employers who pressure practitioners to prioritise commercial interests over patient care may also commit an offence under the National Law.

AMA, updated 2 October 2026; newsGP, 24 September 2026

Off-label and compounded prescribing remains under scrutiny. AHPRA's guidance reinforces that patient demand alone is not a sufficient clinical justification for prescribing off-label, unapproved or compounded medicines.

High-volume prescribers may be investigated even where no formal complaint has been received.
